What is it with beaches? And sunsets?
Tasmania’s beaches are solitary treasures. Often deserted because of the all too bracing elements.
This was one such day. Beach deserted. Wild winds, crashing waves, flying spray and flotsom covered sands. And the sunset!
What is it with cameras? And sunsets?
The subtle, sparking interplay of light between the sky and the water begged for attention.
The elements, the light and the waves demanded action. The camera provided an adulthood-abandoning excuse.
We found our childhood; in that light, in these reflections and in our minds. We were freed by the camera and the beach. We found once more an iota of the innocence and a snippet of the exhuberance of childhood.
Where is your beach? What inspires and liberates you? What rekindles your hidden child?
The interplay of light and camera stimulated a delightful interplay with friends.
What an ingeneous tool your camera is. May it recapture the light of your innocence…always. Share these treasures…they are too precious to hide.

I have a lovely memory of building a teepee sweat tent on Swansea beach. Earth, Fire, Water and evening dips in the ocean – incredible. I’ve wanted to do it ever since but perhaps the intensity of that moment, the spontaneity and the first-time excitement cannot be repeated. Great photo – is it yours?
I’m envious. What an amazing experience. Such a feast for the senses. Must try it myself. It’s a risk; the interplay of treasured memories and repeated or similar new experiences. A child’s delight in the moment and lack of concern for memories must free up their sponteneity. It is my photo – we had a photo-taking orgy. Not many worked out. This one had more colour than most but lacked some of the amazing gymnastics. Next time I’d up the ISO rating…and jump more.
